How Does Business Coaching Help Me Serve Real Estate Clients?

Business coaching helps me bring more structure, perspective, and accountability to the way I serve buyers and sellers. It also connects me with experienced agents in other markets, gives me a place to work through difficult situations, and helps me keep up with changes in technology and real estate practices.

The benefit for my clients is practical. Better systems support clearer communication. A broader professional network gives me more people to call when a situation needs another experienced opinion. Continuing education helps me ask better questions and adjust as the business changes.

  • Coaching gives me a consistent plan for improving my business and client service.
  • A weekday mastermind exposes me to ideas, tools, and market changes from agents in different parts of the country.
  • My coach, Paul Sanford, has worked with me long enough to understand my goals, strengths, and areas where I can improve.
  • Coaching events help me hear current industry conversations firsthand.
  • A national referral network helps me connect clients with agents when a move takes them outside Middle Tennessee.

Why Did I Start Real Estate Business Coaching?

I started Tom Ferry coaching in February 2020 because I wanted more structure, more direction, and a clearer plan for growing my business. I also wanted to learn from successful agents working outside my own market.

The timing was interesting, to say the least. I started just as the world was shutting down because of COVID. Real estate was changing quickly. No one knew what the next few months would look like, and all of us were trying to figure out how to adapt.

Having a coach and a network of agents during that time gave me something I did not realize I would value so much. It gave me perspective.

What Has Consistency With One Coach Meant for My Business?

I have been blessed to work with my coach, Paul Sanford, from the beginning. That consistency has meant a lot because Paul has gotten to know my business, my strengths, my goals, and the areas where I need to grow.

He has brought direction to my business and helped me accomplish goals I did not know I had when I started.

Sometimes you are too close to your own business to see what is possible. It helps to have someone who can challenge your thinking, ask the right questions, and help turn an idea into an actual plan. Paul has done that for me many times.

The official Tom Ferry conversation with Paul about AI search is one example of why his perspective matters to me. He pays attention to changes in the way consumers find and evaluate real estate professionals, then helps agents think about how to respond responsibly.

Why Has the Coaching Community Become So Important?

One of the biggest surprises of coaching has been the friendships.

Real estate can be a very independent business. There are times when you are dealing with a difficult transaction, a challenging conversation, or a situation you have never seen before. It helps to have another experienced agent you trust who can offer a different perspective.

Through the coaching network, I have built relationships with agents I can call and say, “Here is what is happening. What do you think?”

Sometimes they have handled something similar. Sometimes they see an angle I had not considered. Sometimes talking through a problem with another experienced professional helps you find the best way forward.

Those relationships have become one of the parts of coaching I value most.

What Happens in My 7:00 A.M. Real Estate Mastermind?

Every Monday through Friday at 7:00 a.m. Central, I join a daily mastermind made up of agents from Paul Sanford's coaching group. We typically have around 12 to 20 agents participate from across the country and sometimes from other parts of the world.

I make it a point to attend every day. Honestly, it is one of the things that gets me up and going first thing in the morning.

We talk about real estate. We share what is working, what is not working, what is happening in our individual markets, new technology, marketing ideas, difficult transactions, and changes we are seeing with buyers and sellers.

If someone has a problem, we work through it together.

Because everyone works in a different market, I hear ideas and trends I might not encounter in Middle Tennessee right away. Sometimes an agent elsewhere is seeing a change that later reaches our area. Other times, someone has already found a clearer process, a useful tool, or a better way to communicate with clients.

The information helps, but the relationships are what I treasure most. This group has become a trusted circle of people I can learn from, laugh with, ask for advice, and lean on when I need another perspective.

How Does a National Perspective Help Middle Tennessee Clients?

Real estate is local, but the forces shaping the business do not stop at a county line. Technology changes across the industry. Contract practices evolve. Buyers use new tools to research homes and agents. Sellers change the way they compare marketing plans and professional services.

My work still requires detailed knowledge of Franklin, Williamson County, Nashville, Spring Hill, Columbia, and the other Middle Tennessee communities I serve. A national network does not replace that local work. It gives me another source of perspective.

An agent in another market may be testing a communication process that helps clients understand a complicated timeline. Someone else may have dealt with a transaction problem I have not encountered in the same form. Another agent may be seeing a shift in buyer questions before it becomes common here.

I can listen, decide what applies to my clients, and leave behind what does not fit our market or Tennessee real estate practice.

Why Do I Attend Real Estate Coaching Events?

I make it a point to attend the Tom Ferry Summit and Elite events. I especially enjoy the Elite events because they bring together coaching clients for focused conversations about what is happening in real estate.

For me, being in those rooms matters.

Real estate changes fast. Technology changes. The market changes. Buyer behavior changes. The way sellers choose agents changes. Contracts and industry practices evolve. New tools appear constantly.

I do not want to wait until something becomes common knowledge to start learning about it. I want to understand what is changing and consider how it may affect the people I serve.

The official Success Summit page provides current information about that annual real estate conference.

How Did Coaching Influence My Google and AI Search Work?

Several years ago, I learned through coaching how important it was to build and maintain my Google Business Profile. I took that advice seriously, and I am proud of the presence I have built there.

I value every review. Those reviews represent real people, transactions, referrals, relationships, and experiences. When someone takes time to write about working with me, I do not take it for granted. You can read the feedback on my client reviews page.

More recently, we have spent time learning about artificial intelligence and the way people search for information online. Buyers and sellers use Google, AI tools, social media, and video to find answers. They ask detailed questions about neighborhoods, market conditions, home values, schools, commute routes, local events, and new construction.

My goal is to be a useful and reliable local resource when people ask those questions about Franklin and Middle Tennessee. That means creating local content, checking facts, linking readers to official sources when needed, and staying careful about topics such as school assignments, zoning, and future development that require current verification.

The tools may change. The goal does not. Be helpful. Be accurate. Know your market. Earn people's trust.

How Does the Coaching Referral Network Help With Moves?

Another benefit of the coaching community is the referral network I have built with agents across the country. I have both given and received referrals through that network.

People move everywhere. A client may be leaving Franklin for another state. A past client may call because their child needs an agent somewhere else. A friend or family member may be moving to a market where I do not work. Another Realtor may have a longtime client moving to Middle Tennessee.

In those situations, relationships with agents I know can help me make a more thoughtful introduction.

I also take referrals seriously. When another Realtor sends a client to me, that agent is trusting me with a relationship they may have spent years building. I understand what that means.

Realtor Jordan Vorderbrueggen wrote that I am professional, responsive, and truly care about my clients. He also described me as his go-to referral for Middle Tennessee. That professional feedback means a great deal because it comes from someone who understands the responsibility involved in sending a client to another agent.

If you are planning a move into the area, my Middle Tennessee relocation page explains how I help buyers compare communities and prepare before traveling. If you are moving elsewhere, you can ask me whether I know an agent in your destination market.

Why Should an Experienced Realtor Keep Learning?

The longer I work in real estate, the more important continued learning becomes.

Experience matters, but it should never become an excuse to stop learning. There is always something new to understand. There is another way to look at a problem. There is a better question to ask. There is an opportunity to improve.

Local differences matter too. Franklin can look different from Brentwood. Brentwood can look different from Spring Hill. Spring Hill can look different from Columbia. Advice that fits one property or client may not fit another.

That is why I continue to invest in coaching. When I learn a better system, my clients benefit. When another experienced agent helps me see a difficult situation differently, my clients benefit. When I understand a new tool or industry conversation earlier, I can consider it before it becomes urgent.

What Did I Find Through Business Coaching?

I started coaching because I wanted structure and a plan to grow my business. I found more than that.

I found a coach in Paul Sanford who has worked with me from the beginning and helped me accomplish goals I did not realize I had. I found a daily mastermind that gets me moving at 7:00 every morning. I found friendships with agents across the country and beyond. I found a referral network. I learned how to strengthen my Google presence. Now I am learning how AI changes the way buyers and sellers search for real estate information.

Most importantly, I found a community that continues to challenge me to grow.

I do not think coaching is something you eventually outgrow. I think it is one of the ways you keep growing. That growth helps me do a better job for the buyers and sellers who trust me with their real estate decisions.
